This is from a Eric Stanton illustrated 1963 Mutrix magazine called Jasmine’s Predicament. The previous panel says “Jezebel has Jasmine’s face bound with thin strips of untanned leather, which are then wet with water!”

When I saw this vintage comic book panel it immediately reminded me of the passages in Nomads Of Gor describing the so-called “Love War” on the plains of Turia. I guess it doesn’t make all that much difference in the middle of the Caribbean, but it always struck me as unsporting for pirates to make their victims “walk the plank” in bondage. Not that there’s anywhere to swim to in shark-infested waters, but why not let them try? It all comes down to the pragmatics of terrorism, I suppose; if the notion is to be known as bad guys, a bit of gratuitous evil fills the bill!
