This spooky and creepy fantasy of a bondage initiation scene by art student Mary Torrey Lear is a sort of frontispiece for the “Sororities” section of Iris, the 1912 yearbook of the Ward Seminary:

10 skeletal figures supervise a female sorority pledge bound in front of a flaming bonfire with a boiling witch cauldron as part of some eldritch hazing ritual

The artist, it turns out, was the object of a lesbian schoolgirl crush:

mary martin had a crush on mary lear
