It’s the Fifteenth of April, which in the United States is a time of great wailing and gnashing of teeth, because personal income tax returns are due. Here’s the best anti-IRS image to appear in my mailbox this year, captioned simply “Internal Revenue Service Agents Conducting An Audit”:

Upon close scrutiny, the image actually appears to be an ancient Chinese engraving. But it wouldn’t suprise me if the caption (which you can just see at the top of the image) translates to “The Emporer’s Tax Collectors Conducting An Audit”.

Update: a commenter tells me that this is artwork from Dee’s Diary, a BDSM comic that was originally serialized in Pleasure Bound magazine. A bit of searching tells me it was drawn by artist Jorge. Maybe Dee’s not technically a bondage nurse, but I don’t care…

Funny thing about classical art. Usually there’s no visible bondage, because even the slaves were kept more by fear than by actual rope and chain. This image from ancient Egypt is a rare exception:

This image comes from David Redford’s 1984 book “Akhenaten the Heretic King” and is said to depict a decoration on the base of Queen Tiy’s throne, circa 1440 BC.
