After having said in my earlier post that it was rare to find actual bondage in classical art, here’s another rare example. This looks like an engraving from the era of the Caribbean plantations, and is almost breathtaking in its brutality:

Funny thing about classical art. Usually there’s no visible bondage, because even the slaves were kept more by fear than by actual rope and chain. This image from ancient Egypt is a rare exception:
