Bondage Versus Photoshop

Earlier in the month Erosblog discovered a photoshop on Tumblr that had converted a bondage blowjob photo into a multiple-amputee blowjob photo:

Fetish is as fetish does, I suppose, but my instant thought was “What, she wasn’t helpless enough for you already?”

I’ve long been bemused by the existence of the tiny little fetish for multiple-amputees as helpless sex objects. It has obvious psychological resonances with the bondage fetish, but none of the bondage. I wonder if that’s part of the appeal? Do helpless-amputee fetishists crave the power and control of the bondage dominant, while perhaps being somehow repulsed by the rope and hardware used to achieve it?

I can see an amputation fetish taking the form you suggest, although I’ve also seen it deployed from (what appears to be, anyway) a first-person perspective of someone with unusually-intense masochistic fantasies (warning: for this blogger it’s not just the state but the process of amputation which matters, so proceed accordingly) and also as a species of a fascination with the idea of body transformation, of which amputation is a kind, naturally.

Nice links! And what sounds like a more solid pair of psychological explanations than my lame theory. ;-)
