That looks like a siege-engine of some sort in the background.

So, it is a matter not only of her humiliation, but also of the men in the besieged city who watch from the walls. They are being taunted to come out and do battle, probably against an overwhelmingly superior force.

Her guards face in opposite directions. The one on the left looks like an officer, who faces the city, but also watches the girl to see how much she can take.

The other looks like a sergeant, facing his own encampment, to enforce discipline on his men, to be sure that his troops do not ravish her. At least not yet. Not until it’s time to turn up the pressure. Perhaps she is a princess and her father the king sees her plight from afar.
