Your Adult Blogger/BlogSpot Blog Is At Risk

I don’t have time today to really blog about this in detail, but fortunately the news is all over the web (along with good advice about what to do if you’re affected). This post is just to amplify the signal in hopes that it will get seen in time by the folks who need to hear about it. Bottom line:

Starting Monday, July 1, any blog on Blogger (the ones with a domain) that has both adult content and any means of monetizing it (including but not limited to affiliate links and banners) is at risk of being deleted by Google.

Ultimately everybody affected by this needs to undertake some combination of immediately backing up their blog, pulling monetization links, or moving to self-hosting. The precise mix will vary depending on your situation. But given that it’s a summer weekend, you may only have time to back up your blog. DO THAT NOW.

For all the details and some more helpful links, see Spanking Blog’s post about this: Monetized Blogger Blogs To Be Deleted By Google.

Hopefully this public service announcement will save somebody’s ass. Be careful out there!

Well… corporation of evil. It was inevitable.

yeah, I’ve been using Blogger for my blog, I’ve scrubbed all my affiliate links and also copied off my blog via Bloggers tools which are really fast and efficient. (blogger users: go to Design/Settings/Other/Blog Tools/ and click on “Export blog.” Not sure how it will work with embedded pics via Blogger, I hosted all mine on my own site, but it DOES get all the text exported very, very fast.

Now setting up a mirror site, a little more tedious, but hey, that’s why I get the big … well, not so big … tiny, actually … bucks!

Oh, if you decide to scrub your affiliate links and mirror your site, you can export the site BEFORE you scrub so you can keep yoru affiliate links on the mirror. Might wanna export it AFTER scrubbing, too, just in case. In case of what? I don’t know.
