She might be conflicted between her hidden lustful desires being suddenly and publicly acted on, and her subconscious sense that decorum requires a degree of resistance on her part.

I think the two ladies were caught swimming or sunbathing in the nude, and were quickly hustled to the tree trunk by men whom they know and are friends with.
