Part of my business is publishing bondage books, most of which are true stories of people’s S/M sex life. One of the authors whose work I publish is a woman who ties herself up and tortures herself, then writes about what she does to herself and the fantasy she is enacting. She freely admits that she has ended up in hospital several times and has nearly died on one occasion. However what really frightens me when I proofread her books is the seriousness of some of the things she does that she thinks is safe. A lot are not, and she is fooling herself into doing some really dangerous and stupid things.
