I do love the old pulp magazine illustrations. One I actually picked up in the newsstand when I was young. I remember it clearly. It showed two girls chained to the ground outside, their clothing ragged and nearly torn off. It was snowing out, and two guards with very heavy clothing were dumping buckets of water over their heads. I believe there was an American soldier watching from behind bushes outside the prison camp (but that detail may have been picked up from another illustration).
