That said, there are a ton of sexually conservative religions that counsel lusty young men to do all sorts of bizarre things (from cold showers to self-bondage of the wrists and/or the genitals) to prevent masturbation or even “nocturnal emission”. So, if you told me, a non-Mormon, that a Mormon bishop had counseled a young male sexual sinner to wear special underwear designed to, say, remind him of his duties of chastity, I could believe that in the sense of not having any reason to doubt it; and the thought that a British tabloid could misconstrue that to call it a “chastity belt” is not beyond the bounds of reason.
