Slaves and poor freepersons often went naked or with only a loincloth or skirt of rough cloth (like sacking), saving full clothing for the winter.
A great source of amusement was that male slaves when stripped and hung up would, out of fear, have erections. After a few strokes it was not unusual for them to ejaculate, which gained more strokes for “wasting their seed” that should have been put to work in a female slave’s belly.
You will not see contemporary pictures or drawings of these things because of “sanitization.” Written accounts are scarce.
