A Modern Figurehead
Ancient sailing vessels had wondrously-carved wooden figureheads, often featuring naked ladies. But in the modern world, where craftsmanship is dear and flesh is cheap, the real thing is more economical:

When the waves pick up, she’ll rhythmically feel the troughs as the boat falls away under her, only to follow it herself after a slight lag. Each time she’ll land on the edge that re-wedges itself into her.
