Pair Of Slavegirls

This artwork reminds me a lot of Kelly Freas illustrations, but I’m thinking more “inspired by” than “drawn by”:

I knew Kelly for many years (he lived locally and was very involved in the local sci-fi group).

This is not his work. His style is very, very different from this.

And I doubt he would have drawn something like this. Not that he’d disapprove, but it simply wasn’t his thing.

Yeah, you are right. I was thinking of the cover and interior illustrations for some of the early Gor books in the Daw yellow-spine edition, and some of the early Flashman covers — and the ones I was thinking of were actually by Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta.

I don’t believe that any of Frazetta’s work was used on the Gor books, although Boris did a number of fantastic covers.

Frazetta did a number of classic Conan covers which were typically sold next to the Gor novels.
