The Ice Lock

If you’ve ever googled up any self-bondage or “left tied up” stories, you’ve probably encountered the “handcuff keys left frozen in an ice cube” trope somewhere. Now, new from the Stockroom, there is a stylish stainless steel Ice Lock to accomplish the same type of play:

ice lock delayed-release bondage timer

Of course this ice lock is probably better used to enforce a timed bondage sentence on your bondage submisssive, given that all the usual hazards of unsupervised bondage and self-bondage still pertain.

More information from the Stockroom:

Does your sub deserve to be put in their place? Now you can lock your partner down for hours at a time, with this Stainless Steel Ice Lock. Available in small or large, this lock will allow you to keep them in the position of your choosing while you tease, torture, and bring them to the brink–over and over.

All this is possible because the Ice Lock has an ingeniously simple way of insuring that the sub doesn’t go anywhere: The key is encased in solid ice within the two halves of the metal cylinder. Until the ice melts, there’s no key to undo the lock with. Using the larger size, it can take from 40 minutes to 2 hours for the ice to melt, depending on the temperature of the room and how much your sub struggles. WIth the smaller size, time can last from 15-45 minutes.

Made of high-quality materials, including rust-proof steel (meaning that this lock can withstand any number of lubricants without fail), and beautifully sexy and utilitarian. For use with any toy or furniture with attachment points.

I think they need to get a copywriter who actually uses the product or at least holds one in hand before writing. The description of how this works seems rather off. It’s essentially a short-lasting chain link. There’s no key, and no place inside to put a key. Lock the sub to one end, lock the other end to a hardpoint. When the ice melts, the two ends can be separated, and the sub can wander off as desired.

I guess I agree about the sales text, but if you look at the photos on the Stockroom site, all seems quite clear. It appears there’s a barrel and a pin that goes into the barrel. The pin has holes in it (allowing the ice to interpenetrate it) and is what they are calling the key. When the ice melts, the key can be removed from the barrel; not previously. I don’t think there’s any problem with calling this device a lock, but the “two halves of the cylinder” and “no key to undo the lock with” phrasing does seem rather inapt.

We have one of these and husband was away so I decided to make use of it. I prepared myself with blindfold, ball gag with holes in, remote dildo inserted, then knelt on the bed and tied my ankles, knees and thighs together. The Ice lock was between 2 half’s of a set of handcuffs and attached to the ankles. After I was set and holding the dildo remote I then toppled forward so I was in a hogtie face down. I tuned on the dildo and spent a pleasurable hour or so. I then rested expecting the lock to open, it didn’t. Being blindfolded I had no idea of time but knew it was to long. I started to worry it wouldn’t and thrashed around trying to release myself, but only succeeded in turning the dildo back on and then dropping the remote! Eventually the lock did release after about three hours. My dear husband told me he had filled the lock with a slow melting tell just to catch me out. It worked!
