Location-Anonymized Vintage Bondage

This vintage photo in the style of Irving Klaw (I do not know whether it’s actually his work) caught my eye because of the lengths to which the photographer went to conceal the location of the shoot. The fabric background is surely hung for the occasion, but the wall below it is, if you look carefully, covered in carefully-taped brown paper. The only reason I can think for doing this would be to cover up a distinctive wall covering that could be used to identify the shoot location:

It’s possible that the room was available for the shoot because the place was being renovated. The wall might have been covered for protection when the trim gets a fresh coat of paint.
