Bondage For Beginners

Steph from Cunting Linguist has written an excellent “Bondage For Beginners” guide in two parts:

Part I

Part II

Most of the twenty zillion Bondage 101 articles on the net focus too much on the mechanics (how to tie the knots) or too much on safety. (Yes, I said “too much on safety.” Safety is vital, but bondage safety info is neck-deep on the internet. Anybody who is googling sees that first. You don’t need to repeat it endlessly. That’s why I tend to delete comments from the safety nazis who come through this blog and feel the need to “supplement” my content with their own safety views and advice.)

Whoops, mini-rant, now safely over. Anyway, Steph’s bondage guide doesn’t try to re-do the copious practical and safety information that’s out there. Instead, it’s a guide to making bondage fun and erotic, and it’s chock full of practical tips for that:

You’re bringing food into the equation because a) they’re at your mercy and b) if you’re doing it right, they’ll be blindfolded for a while. The fruit is practical and sensual at the same time. When the bondage play begins, and they’re blindfolded, feeding them a mystery fruit will have to force them to turn their senses on. It’s a pleasure trigger. They’ll need to figure out what they’re eating, thus making them sensually more alert for when you begin playing.

Or:

When you’re making your way up their body, be it with kisses or with drizzled syrup, going in a straight line doesn’t work as effectively as zig-zagging will. Why not? Because nerves like surprises, and if you’re working in a straight line, the body knows what’s coming next. This is always, always about surprising the senses.

Good stuff!

Hey, thank you for the linkage. I’m glad you enjoyed the piece… it’s nice to get a little praise from folks who enjoy bondage as part of their lifestyle, since it’s pretty vanilla compared to what all y’all might be accustomed to, but that’s sort of the point — to introduce new folk to the wonders of binds and ties.

Awesome. Thanks!

[…] Getting started with bondage can be a daunting thing sometimes, but fortunately the folks over at Bondage Blog have posted links to a two-part article that seeks to give advice to the would be kinky newbies.   It’s a piece found over at The Cunting Linguist written by a gal by the name of Steff.  In her article she offers wisdom on such practical concerns as what you will need, how to make things fun and enjoyable, and some erotic playtime guidelines for the beginners.  There are even tips on how to make generic household items such as a pastry brush erotic and kinky.  Hmmm, a pastry brush lightly moving across naked flesh . . . .now that does sound like fun; however, not all that sanitary if it makes its way back to the kitchen cupboard without one Hell of a good wash. you don’t mention gags in your article. For my girlfriend, being gagged (and blindfolded) is half the fun of bondage. She trusts me to the point where she will allow me to completely cut off any hope of her “calling out for rescue”.

Also, surprise in bondage can be fun. Some nights when she gets home from work, I grab her at the door and tackle her, tie her up (all while she is laughing, mind you), gag and blindfold her and throw her in the backseat of my car (in our garage).

Other than that, excellent article!
